Objectives: This series of discussions is designed for us to identify and chew on the concept of privilege, in its many iterations. We will also chew on our complicity in social injustice on a personal and systemic level as both individuals and professionals. The discussions will focus on a set of readings authored by individuals who have experienced many forms of social injustice.
Facilitators: Meredith Burke (she/her/they/them) and Linda Ross (she/her).
The discussions will be facilitated by Meredith Burke, a DeafDisabled, white, queer, middle-class person, with assistance from Linda Ross, a white, moddle-class senior citizen. Linda had recently been checking herself often and learned she is not the ally she thought shew as. They will act as participants and facilitators for the discussion. While they will not be formally teaching or speaking as authorities, they recognize they will be facilitating from a position of privilege.
