Erin Matheny began learning American Sign Language in 2012 while attending high school in the Columbus area. Early immersion in the Deaf community, along with a meaningful tactile conversation with a DeafBlind individual during her junior year, inspired her to pursue a career in interpreting.

Erin earned her Bachelor's degree in American Sign Language and English Interpreting from Kent State University in 2024. Specialized coursework and practicum experiences exposed her to a variety of settings. She completed most of her practicum hours with the DeafBlind community and discovered her greatest professional fulfillment is working as an SSP/CN.

Following graduation, Erin worked as a full-time staff interpreter in Akron where she built lasting relationships within the Deaf and DeafBlind communities. She is grateful for the mentorship, trust, and support she received, which continue to shape her work as an interpreter.

In 2026, Erin returned to Columbus, joined Hallenross as a full-time staff interpreter, and earned her National Interpreter Certification (NIC). She is committed to lifelong learning and looks forward to continuing to grow through professional development and diverse interpreting experiences.
